Reid Puts $100 Million In Obamacare Bill For Landrieu
Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu is one of three Democrat Senators being courted by elitist progressive Harry Reid to back Obamacare socialized health-care legislation. Reid included in his version of Obamacare an extra $100 million in federal aid for low-income people in her state.
The blatant disregard of ethics in making an obvious bribe to Landrieu shows the contempt Reid has for America and for the hard working taxpayers. There is no cover up Reid was out front with I’ll put $100 million in my Obamacare bill for you.
The Louisiana money is intended to adjust the percentage of federal payments to the state for Medicaid to avert a scheduled cut in U.S. assistance in 2011 for the program, which provides medical care for the poor. Louisiana had a bump in per capita income from the post-Katrina construction boom, which would force the decline in federal aid.
Medicaid is a program that has grown beyond all calculations as to cost. Much of those costs were dumped on the states after Washington devised Medicaid. Taxpayers pay more in state taxes to cover Medicaid expenses forced on the states by Congress. Do you see Obamacare headed in the same direction?
Landrieu has championed federal aid for rebuilding Louisiana since Hurricane Katrina devastated the New Orleans area in 2005. An Obamacare socialized health care bill is not the place for that aid. Let Congress deicide that aid on its merits. How many tax dollars have gone to Louisiana since Katrina and how many more can we taxpayers afford to give?
Bribes like this can no longer be tolerated. The national debt is over $12 trillion. Why should a $100 million bribe be tolerated to gain 1 vote for Obamacare? If you or I accept a bribe we go to prison. Is it time to start sending members of Congress to prison for bribes in legislation?
